Fall VirtCon 2016 - free online conference from Discovery Education - Oct 22






Discovery Education is hosting a free, online conference - 2016 Fall VirtCon - on Saturday, Oct 22nd.


VirtCon is a bi-annual conference that brings the Discovery Education community together to hear cutting-edge keynotes, be inspired by thought-provoking presentations, and participate in engaging discussions with the Discovery Education Community around the globe. Streamed live from their headquarters in Maryland, VirtCon provides you with the opportunity to hear from your peers, share ideas and instructional tools, and discover new resources available.


Fall VirtCon Themes

During Fall VirtCon’s ‘Discovery Education in Action’ program you will learn how your peers are using Discovery Education in their classroom, hear how they solve problems, and experience Discovery Education through their eyes.

Education on Air - free online educational conference from Google



Google has just announced Education on Air, a free online conference for educators on May 8-9, 2015. This is free, online conference is for educators and is being presented by educators, and some students. The theme is exploring the future of education and technology

The conference will provide an opportunity to:
Reflect on and discuss how we can create an education system that prepares students for our always-changing world
Learn new ideas from people in various roles across education, including students
Get tips and tools from educators who have boosted student engagement, collaboration and productivity using technology and innovation
You won't even have to leave home to attend. You can take part right from the comfort of your computer, at no cost.

Day 1: Leading the future
On Friday, May 8 from 10am-3pm EST, hear from educators, students and business leaders on the topic of leadership in education. Short keynotes and panels will help answer the question “how do we prepare our students for a future that is ever-changing?” Topics will include creating student ownership, leading change and fostering innovation in schools.

Day 2: Shaping the classroom today
On Saturday, May 9, join any of the 90+ sessions, run by educators for educators and held throughout the day across time zones. These sessions are designed to help you immediately in your school. We’ll have tracks for four groups: teachers, leaders, IT and general interest. Topics will include supporting literacy in early learners, successful device deployment and empowering digital citizens.

Even if you can’t attend on the scheduled dates, do register to stay informed. We’ll share the conference schedule and list of speakers in April. We’ll also be recording the sessions, so you can check out anything you missed.

The First Student-Led Technology Conference is Here on Jan 31st - join in




On Saturday, January 31st, the first Student-Led Technology conference will happen. Students from around the world will connect, share, present and learn about technology. It's a free, virtual student conference to "discuss technology in schools, global collaborations and opportunities for innovative learning."

It will feature keynote speakers and crowdsourced presentations by students in grades 6-12, with topics such as Making, Design, School Technology Clubs, Technology in Schools: Projects and Collaborations, Educational Tools, Students and Social Media, Entrepreneuship and more.

Share this opportunity with other educators and your students.
When is the conference?
The conference will be held online at: studenttechnologyconference.com on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 9 AM to 9 PM EST. All of the presentations and all of the keynotes will be by students!

Edmodocon is Aug 7th - free online conference on using Digital Tools in the Classroom



Edmodocon is a free online conference on using Digital Tools in the Classroom. It will be held August 7th. It is hosted by Edmodo, a free online classroom management system. Edmodo features a social media section, class files, bulletin boards, and much more.




Edmodocon is a great way to get some free professional development and learn some new things to use in the new school year.

You could even attend while sitting at the beach or pool!

FETC Virtual Conference - free, Oct 18, 2012



FETC is again holding a free virtual conference and expo. It will be held on October 18th, from 10:30am - 6:00 pm, completely online and FREE.

There are always some great sessions and there is even a lounge to chat with other educators and a vendor area to find out information about new educational products. You can download presentations and materials

DEN Virtual Conference Live is Oct 20th - free!




Discovery Education is once again hosting a fall, online, free virtual conference for educators. These are great events and a great way to get some free PD and resources.


 

October 20th, 2012.  9am-4pm ET

I’m sure at this point you’re wondering what the BIG changes are.  Let me break it down for you.
  • More LIVE: Every session will be live-streamed.  This means that you’ll see full video feeds of every presenter throughout the day!
  • More keynotes: We’ve added one more keynote to the agenda.  Keynotes will be at 9am, 12pm and 3pm ET.
  • More sessions: Each concurrent slot (10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm ET) will have up to 5 sessions being broadcast for you to pick and choose between.
  • More Face 2 Face events: As of today, we already have 14 F2F events to choose from, with more coming!  Even better, we’ve made it easier than ever for ANYBODY to host their own F2F event.  You put it together, large or small, and DiscoveryEd will provide lunch for your attendees!
  • More presenters: We want YOU to present at the Fall VirtCon LIVE!  The Call for Proposals is open now,visit the conference page to learn how to submit.
  • More ways to get involved: Attend online, attend F2F, present a session, host an event, share the event with colleagues…  Whatever your comfort level, there are a slew of ways for you to join in the fun!
Fourteen Face 2 Face events already, up to 23 sessions to attend, and every single session LIVE streamed out…  This is looking to be the best Virtual Conference yet!!

And what’s the cost for this incredible day??  FREE.  And as I mentioned, if you choose to host a F2F event, we’ll even spring for lunch!

As always, while costumes aren’t required, they are certainly encouraged.  I wouldn’t be surprised if we even had some giveaways in the ol’ prize closet for the best costumes of the day!  Bonus points for incorporating a Discovery theme :)

Virtual Summer Camp for Teachers - on demand learning for educators



The 4th Annual Virtual Summer Camp for Teachers is now available. It is being hosted through Learni.st.

The Virtual Summer Camp for Teachers provides on-demand, anytime learning for educators. The summer camp is organized by topic areas, which include: Common Core Resources, Essential Apps for Educators, Webinar and Online PD opportunities, Virtual Crafts, and even a mess hall with food and recipe ideas.

EdmodoCon 2012 - free online educational conference Aug 8th


EdmodoCon 2012

EdumodoCon is a free, online professional development conference being held on Wednesday, August 8th, 2012. Throughout the day, teachers will share ways they are using Edmodo and other digital tools in the classroom. It is scheduled for 10:00am - 9:00pm ET (GMT -5).

Edmodo is a great resource for teachers and students, providing a secure social learning network for classes. Teachers can host online discussions, share resources, and assign work to students.
