Aviary launches free mobile app photo editor for iOS & Android

Aviary Photo Editor

Aviary is a great resource that I use constantly. I use the Falcon and Talon online image editors to grab images from the web and edit/crop/add effects to use with my blog and with lesson materials. There are browser extensions to use with the online apps and it's very powerful.

A while back, Aviary launched an add-on for mobile devices that allowed you to use Aviary within mobile apps. Yesterday they announced that Aviary is now available as a free, stand-alone mobile app for iOS and Android.

The Aviary mobile app is free and features an easy-to-use, intuitive interface with effects, stickers, color balance, crop and rotate, brightness, contrast, saturation, drawing, text, cosmetic tools and more. There are more effects available for purchase in effects packages ($0.99) and more effects and tools are being added.

This is a great mobile tool that can be used for photo editing and effects on iOS and Android devices by teachers, students, bloggers, and for personal use, greatly increasing the abilities of your device. I now have the ability to do more of my work on my mobile device using this app. I was using it last night to edit some photos that I'm using in a project and it was very easy to use.

 Try it out for yourself:

Aviary Education - safe environment for Aviary for Students

Aviary is one of my favorite web apps. I use the Aviary extension in Google Chrome to take and edit screen shots and I use some of their other tools to edit and modify graphics.

Aviary Education is currently in Beta and is offering free accounts for educators. The site allows educators to create private student accounts, manage assignments, and use the image editor, vector editor, audio editor, and music creator with their students. The content is promised to be 100% school safe.

This is a great tool for all educators to use, especially graphics, art, and music.

Aviary Falcon - online image markup

Aviary has introduced Falcon, a web based image editing tool. With Falcon, you can capture images and web pages from your browser and crop, resize, and mark them up. Mark up options include text, shapes, colors, and more.

The best part about this is that it is web based so there is no software to install. I found it easy to use and very fast and responsive. This is a great alternative to desktop based image editors, especially for schools, as students can use it from home also.

It is free and you can save your files to your free account or download them.

UPDATE - There is also an Aviary extension available for Firefox and Chrome. One click and you are off and screen capturing, editing, etc.
